This is why a meat-eating enviornmentalist is an oxymoron…
Animal products production = waste of plant life and water.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/jun/02/un-report-meat-free-diet12 POUNDS OF GRAIN
“It takes 12 pounds of grain to produce one pound of hamburger. This could make 8 loaves of bread, or 24 plates of spaghetti. grain consumption by livestock is increasing twice as fast as grain consumption by people. Cattle consume 70% of all U.S. grain.”
55 SQUARE FEET OF RAINFOREST
“While not all hamburgers come from the rainforest, for every pound of rainforest beef, approximately 660 pounds of precious living matter is destroyed including 20-30 different plant species, over 100 insect species and dozens of bids, mammals and reptiles.”
2,500 GALLONS OF WATER
“It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of hamburger. This could be used to grow more than 50 pounds of fruits and vegetables. Half of all water consumed in the U.S. is used to grow feed and provide drinking water for cattle and other livestock.”

Oneness and swimming with polar bears.
We are on the Earth and of the Earth. We are consumers and will be consumed. There are animals that farm and exist other animals. There are plants that live off other plants and indeed other animals. Humans are not unique in the use of this world and its resources for our existence. We are unique in that we overuse, abuse and have moved out of sync with our environment.
If God beings are your thing, you would accept that God is omnipresent and omnipotent by all common understanding. That means she/he/it knows and has always known the path we would take as a species, and loves us regardless/has a plan/has no care.
My view is that we are all of spirit. The entire planet, its beings and minerals are all created from spirit. We are not created evil. Evil is a concept and a perspective. A lion killing a gazelle is not evil. Neither is a hungry crocodile. We co-exist not be not killing each other but by living in harmony with our environment and fellow being. Lions and gazelles, crocodiles and cows, polar bears and seals, these are all creatures that co-exist in a harmonious manner. And so can we with the rest of the natural world.
Yes, graphic may be an over-simplification but it is an ideal to which we would, as intelligent beings, want to realise instead of consuming out of “fear of not enough” until there truly is not enough for any Earthling. And that would not be fair to our non-human breatheren.
The end of the world as we’ll know it.
Living rock. The craziness of this planet still surpasses Hollywood sci-fi.

I am part of a lost generation and I refuse to believe I can change the world
I realise this may be a shock but
“Happiness comes from within”
is a lie, and
“Money will make me happy”
So in 30 years I will tell my children
They are not the most important thing in my life
My employer will know that I have my priorities straight because
Work
Is more important than
Family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
But this will not be true in my era
This is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
30 years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evidence that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope
And all this will come true unless we choose to reverse it
There is hope
It is foolish to presume that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It will be evidence that
My peers and I care about this earth
No longer can it be said that
Environmental destruction will be the norm
In the future
I will live in a country of my own making
I do not concede that
30 years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce

Oooooh. Soooo pretty.
You forget that the fruit belong to all and that the land belongs to no one.
Isn’t man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife - birds, kangaroos, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice, foxes and dingoes - by the million in order to protect his domestic animals and their feed. Then he kills domestic animals by the billion and eats them. This in turn kills man by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative - and fatal- health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases. Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals. Meanwhile, some people are dying of sad laughter at the absurdity of man, who kills so easily and so violently, and once a year, sends out cards praying for “Peace on Earth”.
